In Mavbeth play , when Macbeth and his friend Banquo had met the three witches , the three witches said to them (fair is foul and foul is fair )so please what is the best analysis of that sentence and what did the three witches mean in that sentence ?

it means a lot of things but basically

1) it means appearance is deceitful and a man who might appear to be good is in fact your enemy. This is really a theme not only in 'Macbeth' but also in a lot of Shakespeare's palys where there' usually a tension between reality and appearance
2) this paradoxical statment also tells us some thing about the nature of the three witches. They are evil and decietful. They should not be trusted by Macbeth or ven by the audience.
3) The sentence also does some forshadowing to the play. Hearing 'fair is foul and foul is fair' makes us as audience predict the events to come in the play. Therefore, we expect some good people to be bad and some bad people to be good.

I was going to ask some questions about Macbeth coz I'm reading it right now so I hope it would be a topic for discussion about that play.

they are elements of the supernatural world. they add confusion, uncertainty and fear to the atmosphere and the tone of the play
