Hello there,:D

This is an interesting impression from you about that interview. I really keep a great deal of respect toward Mr. George Galloway. In my opinion he is doing what “our leaders” cannot do or say. I did watch his exciting interview through Sky Screen, and I felt that we need more and more like George Galloway. OH MAN he is so awesome. As a political science major, I always quote him in my papers although my professors don’t like it, but I find it so powerful to use his argument in any discussion. :)

I have many clips about his recent interviews; if you like I can share them with you……

Thanks again for this incentive share. :)

Whilst I disagree strongly with most of the policies of George`s `Respect` political party I cannot help but admire how the man refuses to be intimidated by the wrath of the UK and US governments. Did you see his appearence before the US Senate sub-commitee?

He is largely sidelined by the UK mainstream media, except on odd occasions, which is a shame but understandable, I suppose, given that he is a very minor player in UK politics.

I am also slightly suspicious of his motivations. He has built a career out of being pro-Arab ( his UK constituency is largely Arab or Muslim) and, while there is nothing wrong with that, his prior support for Saddam`s despotic regime makes me wonder if he care genuinely for Muslims or is merely being opportunistic.

However, these reservations aside, when one compares George Galloway to Tony Blair, David Cameroon, or most other UK politicians, I think he shines. Long may he continue to be a thorn in the side of hypocrites.

Hello John,

Your reply is so impressive. You actually have supplemented more interesting things. I appreciated the role of George Galloway since it rare to find someone in his courage to address the media of being biased to the western and Israeli interests. Hopefully you understand my point. Once more, thanks for your comment.

...there is no need to thank me.

Rather I thank the forum owners for giving me the opportunity to speak my thoughts and to J-L for bringing up this topic.

I do take your point and it is indeed courageous of Mr. Galloway considering that his actions have earned him very powerful enemies. His name has been besmirched in the press ( he won a court action for damages), his financial affairs have been utterly scrutinised by the government almost to the point of harassment, he has been accused of corruption by US politicians and I am sure that if he puts one foot out of line then the government will come down on him like a ton of bricks.

Courage and UK politicians is a rare and seductive combination.

I think the best UK commentator on Middle Eastern affairs is a journalist called Robert Fisk, who writes for The Independent newspaper.

Galloway appeared on a TV show called Big Brother (no relation, I presume?:D ) during which he dressed as, and pretended to be a cat. He defended his appearance on the show as an attempt to interest young people but, personally, I think he looked silly. His critics argued that his appearance on the show meant that he missed voting in Parliament on several issues.

Could this have been what you saw? I don`t recall him ever being a chamelion.

No John, It was not the person himself, but made about him to criticise him because he changes his beliefs like a chameleon changes its color!! not sure if it was about him or some other politician!!

B-B,

I haven`t seen that commercial but we have 643 members of Parliament. Your descrpition - a politician who

...changes his beliefs like a chameleon changes its color

could accurately describe about 630 of them

You see, you are totally agreeing with what I have mentioned in advanced ( in the other threads):) . When I am talking about Goeroge Galloway, I mean exactly the westerners minorities who are able to address the issue properly. I would like to bring up this critical question; bearing in mind I am not completely aware of his beliefs, attitudes, and thoughts, but I would be wondering about what is making to be supportive to the Eastern issues. I brought up this matter since its rare to find people like him in the western community. :)

I`m sorry, Hanial, but I`m not sure of your question.

Do you mean `What makes Galloway supportive of Palestinians?`

or `What makes Westerners, like Galloway, support Palestine when so many Westerners do not?`

J-L

Yes we believe what we believe. But what we believe can, and should, change as we acquire new knowledge and information. Do you know there was a time when I believed that my government would have no part in another country`s pre-emptive and illegal war on a third country?

Part of the reason that I post on internet forums is to expose myself to new thoughts and ideas. So if you feel I am missing a wider picture or failing to read between the lines then please point out what I am missing. And if you feel I am interpreting something wrongly then feel free to set me straight:D

You are too kind. Your generous compliment is much appreciated. My thanks.
