But gazing back upon the skies
shines with a mournful light;
Like its own tear,
Because so long divided from the sphere.

This extract is taken from Marvell's On a Drop of a Dew . The central idea of this poem is that the human soul comes into this world from hevean and that is anxious to go back there as soon as possible . The human soul is called a "a dew drop" which is typical Marvell's originality and wit . The dew drop , like the human soul, is a visitor to this world and at the sametime longing to go back to its original abode . It "Shines with a mournful light " and is regarded by the poet as its own tear . The most striking conceit lies in these lines is "like its own tear" . The similarity is ver striking here , then itbecomes clear after deep thinking and analysing . This dew seems to be a tear by itself . This similie is so tender and effective . this dew is very sad because of its seperation from its original sphere "Because so long divided from sphere "

there's also some sort of dramatisation to be found in most metaphysical poetry. it partly depends on the personification and the language used
