Love's Secret

by William Blake

Never seek to tell thy love,
Love that never told can be;
For the gentle wind doth move
Silently, invisibly.

I told my love, I told my love,
I told her all my heart,
Trembling, cold, in ghastly fears.
Ah! she did depart!

Soon after she was gone from me,
A traveller came by,
Silently, invisibly:
He took her with a sigh.

The Chimney Sweeper

A little black thing in the snow,
Crying 'weep! weep!' in notes of woe!
'Where are thy father and mother? Say!'--
'They are both gone up to the church to pray.

'Because I was happy upon the heath,
And smiled among the winter's snow,
They clothed me in the clothes of death,
And taught me to sing the notes of woe.

'And because I am happy and dance and sing,
They think they have done me no injury,
And are gone to praise God and his priest and king,
Who make up a heaven of our misery.'

This p0em seems 2 B very judgmental and gives m0tives for everything, the sweeper in this p0em d0es n0t free himself fr0m his misery.

In the first 2 lines, Blake gives us an image 0f an anguished child in a state 0f ag0ny or even in a state 0f corruption. The c0lor black seems 2 B very imp0rtant because it is used 2 represent sin against inn0cence, the c0l0r 0f the white sn0w. Blake als0 sh0ws the same child weeping, when he really means 2 say sweeping, because that is what has that child in such grief. This stanza ends by s0me1 asking him ab0ut his parents, which later end up being responsible for this child’s state
