THE WATERFALL.
by Henry Vaughan

WITH what deep murmurs, through Time's silent stealth,
Doth thy transparent, cool, and wat'ry wealth,
Here flowing fall,
And chide and call,
As if his liquid, loose retinue stay'd
Ling'ring, and were of this steep place afraid,
The common pass,
Where clear as glass,
All must descend
Not to an end,
But quick'ned by this deep and rocky grave,
Rise to a longer course more bright and brave.

Dear stream ! dear bank ! where often I
Have sat, and pleased my pensive eye ;
Why, since each drop of thy quick store
Runs thither whence it flow'd before,
Should poor souls fear a shade or night,
Who came—sure—from a sea of light ?
Or, since those drops are all sent back
So sure to Thee that none doth lack,
Why should frail flesh doubt any more
That what God takes He'll not restore ?

O useful element and clear !
My sacred wash and cleanser here ;
My first consigner unto those
Fountains of life, where the Lamb goes !
What sublime truths and wholesome themes
Lodge in thy mystical, deep streams !
Such as dull man can never find,
Unless that Spirit lead his mind,
Which first upon thy face did move
And hatch'd all with His quick'ning love.
As this loud brook's incessant fall
In streaming rings restagnates all,
Which reach by course the bank, and then
Are no more seen : just so pass men.
O my invisible estate,
My glorious liberty, still late !
Thou art the channel my soul seeks,
Not this with cataracts and creeks.

1.Reading a poem aloud will help us to understand the meaning very well especially if the poet who wrote it himself because his feelings will be transfered to us through those words this musicality the ups and downs of the intonation will help in guessing the real meaning behind the poem,it'll make us feel and smell touch and even see what's written .

2.Well,as a humble student of poetry I think yes there is a strong relationship between the shape and the content for example the deviion of the poem into stanzas will help the reader to distinguish the different issues tackeled by the poet he'll have different ideas not just one block which will make it difficult to make the difference.

3.Honestly we didn't deal with such kinds of poem at school but let me talk myself but I'll print it read it carefully and I'll be bach insha'allah

Good morning I've tried to read the poem carefully ,it's a very nice piece in deed I hope I had understood it so here is my analysis,

I thins poem the poet is talking about the human life comparing it to a waterfall but not the whole human life it is about the end ie death when all the streams of life gothered and all aims achieved the fall with be the end of that long journey ,he is using personification a lot when he say HE reffering to the water fall here he compares it to a real person. It's drops are like revinue ie a group of people travelling so this water fall is the life of all human being they are afraid of falling into death because they fear what is after death. But with such spiritual sense we can understand.!!!!!!
